The Junction is located in the Hunter Valley of Newcastle in New South Wales. Originally part of Merewether, The Junction is stuated 2.8 kilometres from the central business district of Newcastle. Some of the geographical features that surround The Junction are Honeysuckle Point, Moscheto Island and Jewells Swamp, to name a few. The Junction has neighbouring tourist spots as well, including Newcastle Museum, which was founded in 1988 as a major bicentennial project, and Sand Dune Safaris, which offers sandboarding and a 25-minute drive to find Tin City. The town of The Junction is primarily linked by two major transportation services: the Wickham train station and the Newcastle Airport. Tourists who wish to stay in town may choose from various hotels, like Junction Hotel, The Burwood Inn and The Oriental Hotel.
