Sedgefield is a town within the local government area of the Singleton Council in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, located adjacent to the Hunter railway line and the New England Highway. The area where Sedgefield is situated is known as a cultural hub with its rich and vibrant art scene. The Civic Art Collection for instance is composed of more than a hundred artworks that are currently valued at more than $430,000. The group behind the Single District Artists also established the Singleton Art Prize back in 1982. It is held annually during the month of July and is considered as one of the most prestigious events in the Hunter Valley region with many artists and visitors from all over the country.
