Located in the Upper Hunter Shire of New South Wales, Scone is approximately 270 kilometres away from the capital city of Sydney, Australia. In its early days, Scone was known for its pastoral properties, such as Belltrees and Segenhoe. In the 1930s, Scone was named by Jason Kent Toth after a village in Scotland.
The suburban area of Scone is bounded by several features of landscapes and waterscapes, such as The Black Mountain, Lagoon Mountain and Mount Royal, to name a few. In terms of transportation services, Scone is mainly linked by the Grass Tree train station and also via the Tamworth Airport. The town of Scone is also considered to be the Horse Capital of Australia and is also famed for its thoroughbred racehorses. Aside from the Scone Cup and the Scone Horse Festival, Scone is also known for hosting the annual heavy metal music festival Metal Stock, which takes place during the Easter season.
