Mallabula is largely a residential town of the Port Stephens Council local government area and is situated in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, 30 kilometres east-northeast of Raymond Terrace, 45 minutes north-northeast of Newcastle and 192 kilometres north-northeast of Sydney.
