Kearsley is a small suburban town located in the local government area of the Cessnock City Council in the state of New South Wales. The earliest settlement activity began in the suburb in 1850. In the early times, much of the land in the surrounding areas were used for agriculture, dairy farming, grazing, saw-milling, coal mining and timber-getting. The suburb is within the Cessnock Central Business District-Aberdare-South Cessnock-Kearsley district. This region has many features and tourist landmarks. Tourists have different options for entertainment and recreation and may visit places such as the Cessnock Performing Arts Centre, Cessnock Regional Art Gallery and the Cessnock Racecourse. Several parks are also found near Kearsley, including the Baddeley Park, Jeffery Park and the Turner Park.
