A town under the administration of the Tweed Shire local government area in northern New South Wales, Tumbulgum is located 11 kilometres northeast of Murwillumbah, 18 kilometres southwest of Tweed Heads, 46 kilometres south of Gold Coast in Queensland and 820 kilometres northeast of Sydney. Today, Tumbulgum is a historic village that boasts of several buildings that were given the National Heritage classification, some made using the local Red Cedar. Among these is the historic Tumbulgum Hotel, which is also called Tumbulgum Tavern, the first pub and hotel in the area that was licensed in 1887. The town is also a popular fishing town and boating destination.
