Narromine is located in the Orana region of New South Wales, approximately 40 kilometres west of Dubbo. The Macquarie River passes through the town and provides water for the citrus growing area and other agricultural needs.
Narromine is considered to have one of the best soaring spots in Australia, making it a great place for gliding and other aviation activities. There is also an aviation museum in town, which features a V12 Merlin aero engine.
