A village under the Wingecarribee Shire local government area in the Southern Highlands region of New South Wales, Fitzroy Falls is located 16 kilometres south-southeast of Moss Vale, 41 kilometres west of Nowra and 137 kilometres south-southwest of Sydney. The locality was first called Yarrunga and was renamed after the waterfall measuring 81 metres tall that was discovered by Charles Throsby. The waterfall, in turn, was named after Sir Charles Fitzroy, a New South Wales Governor, when he visited the area in 1850.
