House of Colour 76 was established because "You" asked me to set up a one on one personal hair dressing salon. This is an "appointment only" salon. It has been floating along on a referral basis from one beautiful client to another. There is no rush in off the street clients or another hair dresser talking loudly about gossip columns! It is a place of tranquillity, fun, laughter, coffee/tea, time to discuss all of your future hair goals and look at latest hair styling, colours and up-styles. My apprenticeship was completed in Tasmania working with the nations administrator of TAFE. During my apprenticeship, of a year and a half, I was asked to work towards entering competitions to substantiate a quick term of completion of my hair dressing studies. I achieved within this year and a half, Two Second Place in State Tasmania Championships and a Runner up in Nationals Melbourne. I received with my Trade Papers Certificate a Trade Excellence Certificate (this is usually given out to 1 in 2000 students per annum). I also entered a nationwide competition and achieved 1 of the top 20 hair stylists in Australia. This resulted in a trip to Sydney to perform an original hairstyle on stage with 20 other finalists working with the Miss Australia Grand Finalists that evening. This was telecast world wide. I also competed in the nationals in Perth that same year. Five years ago I moved back to Mackay (my home town) and worked with a couple of firms in hairdressing and barbering. I also worked in a local restaurant to gather networking and social acceptance once again. Plus I worked in a local antique shop and a mobile catering company. Hair dressing being my passion, it was then an obvious choice to establish my third business and set up in hairdressing in my home town.
