Tennant Creek Tyre Centre
Called them up at very short notice, after 4.00pm, en route from Camooweal with a blow out needing replacement. Ended up replacing all 4 tyres for safety reasons and they threw in a free wheel allignment at 8.00 the next morning. Very friendly and very professional, Lisa is a gem!! Thanks guys!! Cathy Burey

Isa Tyres Pty Ltd
Dropped in without notice to see if they could fix a puncture. They immediately allocated a team member to get on to it right away. He was very cheerful and helpful - took the wheel and told me it would be ready in 1 hour - and it was. He replaced the wheel and reinstalled the spare in its location under the floor of the boot - very much appreciated by an old bloke like me. As a caravaner, with only a short stay in Mt Isa, it was brilliant to get the problem resolved so quickly. These guys understand what customer service is all about. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to others. Thanks again Isa Tyres.

Very friendly and reliable team, who do good work! Needed alternator and glow plugs replaced on a trip through western QLD and they organised all the parts and reserved a slot for when we came through town. Dropped the van off in the morning and it was ready by lunchtime as promised, so we could continue the trip. Thank you very much again!

Our car broke down on our outback road trip. Car was towed to Autofirst from Boulia on Monday morning. By late afternoon they had diagnosed the problem - starter motor. Fortunately they had one in stock. Repaired and we were back on the road by lunchtime Tuesday😊. Very prompt and professional. Very clean workshop. Kept us updated at all stages. Reasonable price. Many thanks for helping at a stressful time and getting us back on our travels quickly 🙏🏽

They saved the day when I dropped in without notice with the drivers shock absorber being ripped out from a massive crevice on the kajjabi to mt isa road. Dropped me at coffee club for breakfast while he got the parts and did the job with great professionalism. Sorted all the kinks out incl wheel alignment to get me mobile again or I would have been stranded here a few days. Great stuff !!

I am travelling through Mt Isa and developed problems with my vehicle. I was recommended Auto First, and drove in there at 8.30am in the morning. Despite being short staffed and super busy, they took my vehicle and assured me they would sort the problem that day. A 1.30pm txt msg informed me they just completed the work. Upon arrival to collect the vehicle the mechanic talked to me about what they had done and charged me a very reasonable fee for their work. This is great service to a traveller who is not local and I recommend them very highly. The work carried out was great and the problem had been fixed and I can go on my way. Thanks Auto First.

AJ and his staff are professional and extremely thorough in all aspects of mechanical service and repairs. I had AJ service my 2014 Hilux 4x4 mid-trip, after almost 8,000kms of serious off road and dirt work in outback NT and Qld. As part of his process he located and fixed several minor issues that could have become real and expensive problems had they not been found. He also provided a full report on the entire vehicle's condition and the cost was more than reasonable. This business knows what to look for and is savvy to the rigors of outback and country driving. I would not go anywhere else for mechanical service or repairs in Mt Isa. Also - AJ is a good bloke as well.

Need cheap new or used tyres?
Choosing the reight set of Tyres
A top-notch set of tyres not only works wonders for stability but also gives a leg up to fuel efficiency. When cooking up new tyres, manufacturers have their work cut out for them – they must factor in grip, handling, comfort, and longevity. It's practically an art and science combined. Car tyres aren't just there to make your ride look snazzy; they're the unsung heroes keeping us safe on the road. And let's face it, safety is where it's at!
Picking the right tyre size is no small potatoes – if they're too big or small, you could throw a wrench in your ride quality and fuel efficiency. Plus, you'd run the risk of doing a number on your suspension components! So do yourself a favour; treat those tyres like those killer kicks you've got your eye on.
Made from some high-tech synthetic rubber compounds with just a dash of secret sauce (well... maybe not exactly top-secret), tyres are engineered to rise above all sorts of challenges out there on the open road. After all, nobody wants to cruise around on bald tyres! They can take the heat or cold and even laugh in the face of wet conditions to keep aquaplaning at bay.
Those wicked cool tread patterns etched into your tyres? They are more than just pretty faces; they bolster grip by shooing water away from under your wheels when things get soggy.
Don't skimp on tyre TLC: keep tabs on pressure levels, make sure they are distributed evenly around your vehicle, and give 'em a good ol' rotation now and then. A quick pressure check should become part of your monthly ritual.
