Carpet Call lacks ethics.
On Monday a sales rep from Carpet Call came to my house for a quote. I was very clear from the beginning that I also had another company quoting and was told CC would price match for 'like quality carpet' less 10%. He wrote up the quote, said I needed to pay a $600.00 deposit on the day. I asked directly if the deposit would be refunded if I chose the other company. I now realise that he avoided the question by again repeating that they price match. On Wednesday I found out the deposit is not refundable. The issue is that I now prefer a different carpet and while it is in the same price range, it is not the same so they will not price match. I am now stuck with the carpet unless I want to forgo $600.00 or they can give me a store credit, which I don't want. At no time was I told the condition of signing and paying. I realise it is buyer beware and they are acting within the legal guidelines, but they certainly lack ethics.
