The Village has been designed to collect, preserve, restore, interpret and exhibit artefacts that relate to the history, heritage and culture of the regional area. The Museum, Heritage Village and coffee shop are open Friday, Saturday and Sundays 10 am - 4 pm and other times by appointment.

A bustling hub south-west of Tamworth, Werris Creek was specifically chosen by the NSW Government in 1877 to be a gateway for railway travel and trade across the region. Werris Creek thrived on the steam era from the 1870s to the 1960s, and even today retains many artefacts from that time. The Railway Journeys Museum actively conserves and exhibits railway memorabilia from electric staff instruments to miniature trains in an interactive manner for visitors to experience. The Centre is closed on Good Friday, Anzac Day, Boxing Day and Christmas Day. The Centre caters for all visitors, including wheelchair access, with one of the city's most important and unique attractions, Country Music �The Gallery of Stars� Wax Museum. Another fantastic asset to The Big Golden Guitar Tourist Centre is the addition of The Collectors Museum featuring Sir Donald Bradman. This is a fantastic museum not to be missed by the sporting enthusiast. Visitors can relax with food and refreshments in the Golden Guitar Coffee Shop, browse through hundreds of Australian and Overseas country music CD's and DVD's, Tamworth Country Music Capital souvenirs and gift items.
