Welcome to Cairns Holiday Homes, an accommodation booking site where we will help you to find a suitable holiday home. Call us to find out more about any of the properties listed - we visit them all and get to know the owners before adding them to our website. All our homes are run by Cairns Locals, giving you a personal service that is hard to find elsewhere. Self catering is less expensive for families. It gives you more space and the freedom to come and go as you please. Our Holiday Houses have all the comforts of home with all linen provided, well equipped kitchens, TV/DVD player, internet connected, pool and garden. We have a wide range of Holiday Accommodation from Apartments to Beachside Houses and can help you find the home that is just right for you. Our biggest home sleeps up to 16 guests so friends and family can stay together. One of our homes is wheelchair friendly. No need to leave the family dog behind, as some of the homes are pet friendly, but this does need to be arranged before arrival. See 'dog friendly' tab on the website. We (3 families - 6 adults and 6 children) spent a week at Poinciana Lodge in mid-December and had a lovely time. The home was able to accommodate all of us with ease and without ever feeling like we were on top of one another as there are numerous living spaces, both indoors and out. During our stay we found we rarely had to use the air-conditioning as the house has good cross-ventilation and lots of ceiling fans. We generally only turned the air-con on to cool the children's rooms down to get them off to sleep and then switched them off later in the evening. David, the host, was very helpful in greeting us on arrival and showing us through the property. There were beautiful floral arrangements, a welcome hamper plus a 'starter pack' of items in the fridge such as milk, butter, bread. As it was close to Christmas, there was even a gorgeous Christmas tree which was lovely for the children. The house is very handy to the airport but with location comes noise so expect to hear the first plane in the morning and the last plane at night but after our first night there they really didn't bother us. In face, we actually all enjoyed watching the planes and guessing which airline it was flying over. Poinciana Lodge is also in a really convenient location to access all areas of Cairns; an easy drive down to the city centre (David can give you the locals short cut), Kuranda Skyrail, northern beaches and local restaurants along Collins Avenue. The cafes and restaurants on Collins Avenue were a real surprise with our favourites being "Noa" for dinner (dined there twice) and cafe "Ten One Twenty" for breakfast and coffees. So if you want to really feel like you're staying in the tropics without leaving all the conveniences of city living, then Poinciana Lodge is where you need to be.

The Kookaburra Lodge is off the main highway but within easy walking distance to shops, restaurants, and cafes. We offer a quiet peaceful tranquil environment for our guests to relax and soak up the energy of the surroundings. Our rooms for singles or couples are perfect for a weekend away or a mid-week getaway. Suited to those who love to get out and about exploring the Atherton Tablelands by day and relaxing in the afternoon or evening in your room or on the terrace outside your room. The motel is a total nonsmoking environment. Breakfast is available at the Motel and we use local and organic products where available to provide a fresh breakfast which you can enjoy on the terrace surrounded by nature.
