The Bundaberg Friendly Society Medical Institute opened the Friendly Society Pharmacy in 1920 and purchased St Vincent's Hospital on Crofton Street in 1946. For more than 100 years The Friendlies has continued to provide not-for-profit healthcare services to the community.
