To the yoga classroom, Muriel brings over 30 years of expertise as an educator and more than 1000 hours of yoga teacher training in Australia and India. A dedicated and passionate teacher, Muriel creates a personalised, safe, supportive and friendly learning environment. Her strength is in helping students, irrespective of age and flexibility, to strengthen their core, tune into their breath and body sensations, and practise accordingly, modifying poses when required. Muriel has a gentle and holistic approach grounded in her own experience. Incorporating both Yin and Yang yoga, and Pilates exercises, she gives very clear instruction and emphasises correct breathing and correct alignment of poses. Initially, Muriel trained under the guidance of Knoff Yoga in Cairns. She is influenced and inspired by the work of many others. Over the years, Muriel has taught yoga classes held at CQUniversity; she offers regular and affordable retreats at Agnes Water; she also brought several successful yoga workshops and the very first yoga teacher training course to Gladstone. Subsequently, she mentored and provided opportunities for two graduates to start teaching. In addition, she instigated and participated in a collaborative research project with RMIT on the influence of yoga on university students.
