We are an Australian based wholesaler of African Bolga Baskets, which get their name from the town, Bolgatanga, where they are made. We work directly with the local Ghanaian weavers and co-operatives in Bolgatanga and surrounding villages in the Upper East Region of Ghana to produce these beautiful and practical handmade baskets. The baskets are woven from elephant grass, which grows abundantly in this region of sub-Saharan Africa. The tough nature of the elephant grass, together with the skilful weaving technique of the artisans, passed from generation to generation, makes these individually woven baskets strong, durable and flexible. The handles of the baskets are covered with cured leather for reinforcement and style. Goat leather is the most preferred choice as goats are the main source of protein for many locals. They honour the animal by using all parts so nothing goes to waste. At Afropacific, we say "trade not aid." Emancipation comes from self-sufficiency, independence and a sense of self-worth. We value trading with the people of the Upper East Region of Ghana. By purchasing these products, we don't just help empower these talented artisans but also contribute to sustainable development, preserving traditional skills and promoting ethically produced goods and work practices. Though we specialize in hand woven baskets, we also import mats made from recycled plastic, and work directly with artisans across Ghana, Burkina Faso, C�te d'Ivoire and Mali to produce other authentic and fascinating handicrafts. Brilliant customer service when dealing with issues/mistakes. Mick, who I spoke with on the phone was sincere and apologetic when he heard of the mix up that my fridge wasn’t going to be delivered today. I had ordered food to be delivered from Woolworths tomorrow that had to be refrigerated so if I didn’t get the fridge we would have been screwed and out of food till Tuesday. The boss made sure it was delivered this afternoon and by himself personally. Can’t not thank them all enough!

Tracey and Jacqui could not have been more helpful in their advice for my choice of fabric, and installation of the rails, the curtains and the blinds was a breeze. I am so happy with the quality of the fabric, the workmanship and the service that I have received. I recommend you don't go anywhere else, just go straight to the Sewing Project :)

I met Phil in the car park today, he was collecting trolleys. He was very kind and helpful, found a path for my trolley through The parked cars. Such a happy and delightful man, first time I have ever met anyone quite like him. Service with a smile. Highly recommend Phil.
