We are an Australian based wholesaler of African Bolga Baskets, which get their name from the town, Bolgatanga, where they are made. We work directly with the local Ghanaian weavers and co-operatives in Bolgatanga and surrounding villages in the Upper East Region of Ghana to produce these beautiful and practical handmade baskets. The baskets are woven from elephant grass, which grows abundantly in this region of sub-Saharan Africa. The tough nature of the elephant grass, together with the skilful weaving technique of the artisans, passed from generation to generation, makes these individually woven baskets strong, durable and flexible. The handles of the baskets are covered with cured leather for reinforcement and style. Goat leather is the most preferred choice as goats are the main source of protein for many locals. They honour the animal by using all parts so nothing goes to waste. At Afropacific, we say "trade not aid." Emancipation comes from self-sufficiency, independence and a sense of self-worth. We value trading with the people of the Upper East Region of Ghana. By purchasing these products, we don't just help empower these talented artisans but also contribute to sustainable development, preserving traditional skills and promoting ethically produced goods and work practices. Though we specialize in hand woven baskets, we also import mats made from recycled plastic, and work directly with artisans across Ghana, Burkina Faso, C�te d'Ivoire and Mali to produce other authentic and fascinating handicrafts. We ship Australia wide.

It runs the Alpha & Omega Recycling shop which provides crisis intervention, clothing, furniture and household goods to relieve the misfortune of severely disadvantaged people, low income earners or recipients of Govt benefits in the Noosa and surrounding Sunshine Coast region. It achieves this in 3 ways: 1. Operating a shop where people in our community may come to purchase good quality items at low cost. 2. Using excess funds raised to provide greater assistance to the community in line with our charter as a not-for-profit charity. 3. Providing support to other organisations in the Noosa area who are involved with the community. Examples of how we help our local community include: * Supplying clothing; household items; manchester; furniture; toys for distribution to those in great need. * B'fast program with several local schools. * Support Domestic Violence organisations * Projects for retired tradesmen who repair shop furniture

For a KHub shop this is a great little store! It has most needs for home and clothings at excellent prices, with convenient parking and access to the store, and friendly staff.. So glad to get a lil bit of Kmart at Gympie!!
