My Name is Tom Coburn, I reside on the south coast of NSW, Australia. Growing up next to the ocean I developed a passion for surfing early, and through that, surf film making and photography. I started documenting the characters and intricacies of the ocean from a young age, and continue to do so. I never set out to become anything in particular, only to live creatively and push the scope of my experience for adventure. But when a wedding photographer friend asked me to come along and shoot the greatest adventure in most anyone’s life, I knew I had found my niche. I see life in angles, in lines of perspective, a slight turn of the head, the blink of an eye, subtle glimpses of magic other folk might pass by. Cameras help me translate, interpret and understand what I see. To me, filmmaking is not a service, its an art form. I like to think of your booking as a commission for an artwork, that you can view and enjoy for the rest of your days. I find satisfaction in capturing and documenting one of the most important days of your life in the way that I see it. Every wedding is a memorable experience for me. On the day, there is no team of 4 or 5 crew setting up tripods and cranes all over and causing a distraction, it is just me, subtly capturing what I see, when I see it. Life on the road is something I was raised to embrace, I am happy to travel whatever distance it may be to be there on your day.

I’m sure there’s a good chance you are here because you want me to capture your wedding and you deserve to know a little bit about the person behind the camera. I find myself waking up daily amazed that I get to do this as my career. When I’m not travelling around filming weddings I adore spending time outdoors riding motorcycles, hiking and camping on the South Coast or sitting around the fire pit at home with our kids under the stars. Life really does throw you curveballs sometimes. I found myself quitting my 9-5 grind in the hope of finding greater fulfilment in life. I never could have dreamed my passion for cinematography and editing would completely change my outlook on life and my future. Since then I’ve connected with so many amazing people and crafted for them something that I believe will follow them for the rest of their lives and stand the test of time. I feel immense fulfilment in creating wedding films, and I would be honoured to capture the unique journey that is your story.

I specialise in Southern Highlands wedding video and I also film throughout the Illawarra region and Sydney. A wedding day to me is one of the most special occasions in a couples life. I found cinematography allows me to capture those special moments. Telling your story is my passion.
