Church Street Medical Centre opened in April 2008, a collaboration between four doctors and two managers. We remain privately owned with five of the original owners still working here today. Over the years we have grown as a practice and currently have seven part time GPs, full time practice nurse support and many allied health practitioners. Being an ownership group of all women we started the practice to not only provide excellent health care to our community but to recognise and support the need for work/life balance in our workplace. We pride ourselves on achieving this which is reflected, we think in the longevity of service of our staff and doctors, most of which have been with us from the beginning. Cessnock Medical Centres team of medical professionals provides general health care to Cessnock and surrounding Hunter Valley areas, including Branxton, Maitland and Kurri Kurri. Same day appointments are often available between the hours of 9am and 5pm, from Monday to Friday. Easy car parking, access for wheelchairs and bulk billing make our Cessnock medical facilities both convenient and welcoming. Our dedicated doctors at Cessnock Medical Centre are complemented by a team of registered and enrolled nurses. We provide mental health plans, care plans, health assessments, Diabetes care, skin checks, immunisations, spirometry and pap smears. Cessnock Medical Centres general practitioners see their role in continuity of carebuilding a long-term relationship with you and encouraging mutual understanding and trust. Minor surgical procedures and wound care are routinely performed by our doctors. We also provide nursing home care. Cessnock Medical Centre, with a pharmacy conveniently located in the neighbouring premises, is centrally located for many Hunter Valley area residents.

Appointments can be made at any time of the day via phone/answer machine or email. You will normally be able to book an appointment on the day you call, particularly if your health issue requires urgent attention. Home visits are available for Dr William Redmayne's regular clients who are unable to attend the medical practice because of their medical condition. Home visits, including those for people in Aged Care Facilities, are regularly done by Dr Redmayne either during or after practice hours. Home visits can be organised via calling our receptionist. A 15km radius of Cessnock is the usual limit for home visits but longer distances can be catered for at the Doctors discretion. If you need to see a Doctor when the practice is closed then please ring 02 4990 2533 and listen to the recorded message, detailing the name and contact details for the Doctor one call, AND/OR go directly to CESSNOCK HOSPITAL 02 4991 0555 and nursing staff will organise for you to see the GP on call.
