Hi, I’m Doug - owner and lead videographer at Doug Simpson Media. I grew up in Townsville and always loved the amazing people, the laid-back lifestyle, and the community spirit. After graduating high school, I spent some time travelling and seeing the world. I have lived overseas and in different parts of Australia with my incredible partner. After having our daughter in 2018, I knew that I wanted to settle down in Townsville so that she could enjoy the same childhood and lifestyle that I did. We welcomed our second child, a baby boy, in 2021 and I was looking for a career change to better suit my family. After 15+ years in the hospitality industry, I’ve always had an eye for detail and I decided to combine my love of food with the skills I learnt during my Media degree at University. I began taking photos at local cafes and restaurants and Doug Simpson Media was born. I now have a long list of repeat clients, from local restaurants, real estate agents and corporate businesses, and I will be furthering my services to include wedding videography in the near future. Michal Beroun (Education: MBA in Cinematography, FAMU - Film Academy of Performing Arts, Prague), has over 28 years experience in the industry as director of photography, producer, director and an editor. Michal plays a vital role as director of Grail Films, and oversees the hiring of personnel as well as organising production schedules. We have a proven track record of exceeding our client's expectations, delivering projects on budget and on time. Our strength lies in our flexibility and work ethic. We work from concept through to completion with strong client interaction, to achieve the best possible results.

Vetta Productions was founded in 2012 by Kassia Piva and Sarah Hill. Two local Townsville Graphic Designers and creatives who knew there had to be a better way to do business creatively. They set up Vetta to be an environment where creatives could actually create and the clients could benefit from their local knowledge and collaboration of a multi-talented, multiskilled team of creatives. ‘We saw a lot of colleagues underutilised and eventually leave because they weren’t being challenged creatively. In Townsville we see a lot of talented people leaving the region because they have nothing to aspire to as far as their career progression. We wanted to be that creative agency that allowed talented people their creative freedoms and that ultimately benefits the client because they get a better product.’ We were also seeing a lot of marketing spend being sent to agencies down south, who did not understand our unique North Queensland culture. It’s important to us that we align local businesses with passionate people that they can benefit from. Being local has huge advantages and allows you to see opportunities in the market that interstate agencies can. We wanted to challenge the perception that creatives are difficult to work with. That creativity doesn’t ‘do’ anything for business. It’s not just creativity for creativity’s sake, it’s basically realising that creativity can actually help you sell. We wanted to do it on our own and we wanted to do it together.

I especially love turning those stories that would seem to be ordinary and turn them into something interesting and engaging.
