Jorge Solano is well known in the Townsville community ever since he was general manager of the sugar shaker, then known as the Townsville International Hotel. Over 12 years ago he went to Nicaragua in Central America and worked with a food chemist at the University of Managua to develop the best syrups for coffee which he now makes from Australian sugar.
