Daughters at Hall is a family run business operated in which once was the general store. Seven generations of our family have resided in Hall, worked and have attended school in the Hall region. As a UK expat, owner/chef Geoff and his partner Kate (a Canberra local) spent quite a lot of time searching for the perfect location for a cafe where Geoff could create a menu honoring his Celtic roots. As soon as they saw the space in Hall, they knew it was the one - a peaceful, relaxing setting surrounded by open space and natural Australian beauty. After running a successful doughnut business, Bombolini Doughnuts (a staple at Canberra’s Capital Region Farmers Market, Southisde Farmers Market, The Forage, Handmade Markets and more); Geoff and Kate thought it was time to expand on Geoff’s talents as a chef and take the plunge in opening a cafe. The result is Kynefin. A little cafe in Hall, where simple things are done well. Here at Kynefin we make homely, British-influenced food that makes you feel good. The word Kynefin (pronounced kin-ev-an) is Welsh for one’s habitat, or a place where they feel comfortable and familiar. Our philosophy is simple tasty food, we try and keep things relaxed and enjoyable. Geoff makes nearly everything in-house, including bombolini doughnuts, cakes, breads, jams and chutneys, chai and hot chocolate blends and more.

Nestled in Wallaroo, Surveyors Hill Vineyards marries viticulture with hospitality. You'll discover their own wines crafted on-site, complemented by a welcoming bistro where local flavours take centre stage.
