About Bowen Therapy Bowen Therapy is named after the Australian man who created the technique in the 1950's. With no formal bodywork training Tom Bowen created a series of gentle soft tissue moves performed on the body on specific muscles, joints, nerve points and tendons which were able to relieve his clients of pain and imbalance within a few short treatments. He began a part time clinic alongside his 9-5 job and this quickly grew into a full-time practice for him. He spent a long time working with a select few individuals who worked to help him document his work so his discoveries could be taught to others and so many more people could benefit from his amazing work. Bowtech was founded by one of these individuals in the late 1980's and now worldwide there are more than 26 000 people who have studied Bowtech; the Bowen Technique course.
